Beyond Maharashtra

Pragat Shikshan Sanstha has extended its early childhood and foundational literacy work beyond Maharashtra to several Indian states. Our approach emphasizes demonstration- based training — showing how children can take responsibility for their learning, work cooperatively, and express creativity. Teachers witness this transformation during live sessions with local children, using simple, locally available materials.
The first out-of-state project began in Abujhmarh, Chhattisgarh, training teachers from single-teacher village schools in activity-based methods. Later, in Devbhumi Dwarka, Gujarat, the team worked with Tata Trusts’ Coastal Salinity Prevention Cell, developing Gujarati learning materials and integrating nature-based lessons like bird observation. The most extensive collaboration was in Rajasthan, with the Centre for Microfinance (CmF), training over 300 Anganwadi workers across four districts through practical, play-based
modules and later creating a manual for state-level trainers.
Despite language barriers, the participatory, action-oriented approach of PSS has inspired
confidence and lasting change across regions.
