Pustakmaitri Course

Believing that a library is the ‘soul of a school,’ Pragat Shikshan Sanstha designed the Pustakmaitri (Friendship with Books) course to help educators nurture a love for reading among children. Conceptualized by Dr. Manjiri Nimbkar and developed with educators across Maharashtra, the course blends theory and practice through four modules—importance of reading, how children learn to read, understanding children’s literature, and creating vibrant libraries. Supported initially by the Parimal Chaudhuri Foundation, the course is now funded by Justice Gautam Patel and Malashri Patel. Graduates of Pustakmaitri are transforming libraries and reading culture in schools across Maharashtra.
