Bridge Between Pre-Primary and Primary: A Continuum in Education

Bridge between primary and preprimary.jpg

After the COVID-19 lockdown disrupted schooling, Pragat Shikshan Sanstha launched this project in 2021 with support from the H.T. Parekh Foundation to rebuild children’s foundational literacy and numeracy in 25 government schools of Ausa block, Latur district. Experienced educators worked with teachers, communities, and school management committees. Training sessions emphasized the Pragat Wachan Paddhati (Progressive reading method developed by PSS), language games, and activity-based learning.

In 2022-23, 25 Anganwadis linked to these schools were included to ensure continuity between preschool and primary education. Clean, engaging spaces and active parental involvement transformed children’s learning experiences. In 2023-24, the project expanded to 205 Anganwadis across Latur, including Killari, and later to Man block in Satara. Despite funding ending mid-2024, the initiative continued through local effort and government collaboration.
