Development of Early Childhood Teacher Education Programme in Rural India

This one-year project Supported by Tata Education Trust aimed to develop a comprehensive curriculum for training early childhood educators in rural India. Led by Pragat Shikshan Sanstha, the programme created the Pragat Balshikshika Shikshan Abhyaskram—a five-module course integrating theory and practice. It also produced 16 training films in three languages, storybooks, songs, and 42 educational posters to support teachers and Anganwadi supervisors. The project strengthened PSS balwadis as resource centres and
collaborated with ICDS and Zilla Parishad authorities. By combining research, field practice, and teacher mentoring, the programme laid a strong foundation for improving early childhood education across rural communities.
